How would you depict the idea of “Journey to Wellness” in a painting or other art medium?

NAMI-WRV is asking valley residents to share their ideas concerning different aspect of mental illness and journeys to wellness for the nonprofit organization’s second annual silent art auction.

The organization staged a “Starry Night” art event in May 2017, in which it rallied the community to paint art inspired by Vincent Van Gogh, an artist who created some of history’s most memorable art even as he struggled with mental health issues.

The evening was such a resounding success that the National Alliance on Mental Illness chapter and its Art Show Committee comprised of Poo Wright-Pulliam, Marie Stewart, Kirk Anderson and David Rau decided to stage a second art event to raise funds for NAMI’s free support groups and programs, while helping break down stigma surrounding mental illness.

The Journey to Wellness Silent Auction will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at the old Ketchum Post Office, or what most recently has served as the KIC building at 311 1st Ave. N.

Submissions may be dropped off:

  • Between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, at the Senior Connection in Hailey
  • Between noon and 4 p.m. Friday, April 20, at Kirk Anderson Studio, 115 B Northwood Way in Ketchum
  • Between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. April 24 at the Senior Connection in Hailey.

Art will be displayed on the NAMI website at www.nami-wrv.com from Tuesday, April 24 through Thursday, May 3.
