It’s going to be a be-you-tiful day for throwing paint in the air.
With the forecasting calling for sunny skies and warm temperatures, Color Me Fearless 5K is set to go for Saturday, June 2.
The colorful paint-filled race, which benefits Girls on the Run, will exit out of Hop Porter Park in Hailey at 10 a.m. The 3.1-mile race will then cross the Bow Bridge, traveling on a portion of the Draper Preserve along the Big Wood River before winding back.
Powder paint will be stationed at each mile marker with an opportunity for participants to get painted.
This year’s race will honor past participant with a Sweaty Bands gift and Alumnae bib.
The Haywire Hopefuls will provide music back at the finish line in Hop Porter Park. And there will be face painting, bubble ball, and other activities, as well as booths featuring such organizations as Higher Ground, YMCA, Planned Parenthood, Sun Valley Ballet, Valley Pediatric Dentistry and St. Luke’s.
KB’s food truck and the Bloom Truck mobile library will also be on hand.
Registration can be done in person from 3 to 7 today—Friday, June 1—at KB’s Burritos in Hailey. Girls on the Run will serve up a free barbecue at 5 onsite.
Registration can also be done on line at https://www.raceplanner.com/register/index/COLORMEFEARLESS2018?sid=305e84b0a77144ac85faaabcd875e6e2
Girls on the Run is a nationwide afterschool program offered for third- through fifth-grade girls. The idea is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident, courtesy of a fun curriculum that integrates running.
“As a previous GOTR coach, I have found running has part of my soul,” said Amber Larna, who hopes to raise money for the program by running in the 2018 Sawtooth Relay, a 61.9-mile endeavor.
“I put on my shoes, lace them up anytime of the day and feel the dirt under my feet. My mind clears, my heart is full and my body is moving. My shoes do not judge me, the earth underneath does not judge me. I am me. I am free. I love me. I can set personal daily and long-term goals. I have learned to step out of the box and grow…I have learned to show up for myself and I learned this process through running.
