Enjoy a free concert of tunes by John Denver, James Taylor and others when the Avenue B trio presents a free concert on Saturday night.
The trio—composed of former high school friends Leslie Mauldin, John Mauldin and Jed Moss—will take place at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 28, near the Sun Valley Opera House.
The free family concert is being hosted by Sun Valley Opera as part of its outreach, said the opera’s executive director Mary Jo Helmeke.
Moss and the Mauldins are concert and theatrical performers, who have a strong foundation in the classical tradition but can successfully bridge the formal concert stage and the music of Broadway, pop and folk.
Moss, for instance, is a concert pianist of 30 years who has traveled the globe playing pop rock concerts for stadium audiences, while also performing classical works.
Siblings Leslie and John Mauldin are both operatically trained singers who have performed opera, oratorio and concert roles with major regional opera companies and symphonies but are equally at east pulling out their guitars and singing “Calypso” and “You’ve Got a Friend.”
Together, as Avenue B, the three pay homage to their roots, sharing their journey into the world of entertainment.
They named their trio Avenue B, as they often sat out on the roof of their home on Avenue B singing songs.
