Trout Unlimited is looking for volunteers to help with its annual Fish Rescue on Friday, Oct. 5.
Volunteers are needed to help rescue trout which would otherwise become trapped in canals along the Big Wood River once the water is shut off.
The chapter has worked with Idaho Fish and Game and the canal companies for the past 11 years, returning thousands of trout back to the Big Wood River. Already this year the chapter has had three successful rescues totaling 829 trout.
Volunteers should meet at the WRLT Howard Preserve parking lot off Broadford Road and Highway 75.at 10 a.m. The project, at Diversion 45 Canal, should be completed by 1 p.m.
