It’s all about the trees. And it’s all about the Blaine County Recreation District.
Sun Valley Community School’s second grade will host a free screening of “The Lorax” on Wednesday to benefit the BCRD.
The movie will be shown at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at the school’s theater and is open to the public.
Students will sell popcorn and water with the proceeds benefitting the Blaine County Recreation District as part of their Wow: The Generosity Project. Donations will also be gladly accepted.
“The Lorax,” a computer-animated musical fantasy film, is based on a children’s book written by Dr. Seuss that chronicles the plight of the environment. The Lorax speaks for the trees, confronting the Once-ler who causes environmental degradation.
Joining him in his effort is a boy named Ted, who lives in a walled city that is made of plastic, metal and synthetics.
Ted’s voice is provided by Zac Efron. Danny DeVito speaks as the Lorax and Ed Helms as the Once-ler.
This is the seventh year the second-grade class has hosted a movie night to raise funds for their Wow Project. The Generosity Project offers $25 to each student in Blaine County--money provided by donors-- to teach local youth how to impact the community through their own generosity.
Classrooms pick a project, working with more than 40 local nonprofits on service projects to benefit the quality of life in Blaine County.
