The fourth annual Women’s March on Idaho will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Ketchum Town Square.

This year’s theme is “Demonstrating the Power of Idaho Women in our Democracy.”

Speakers will include Dist. 26 Rep. Muffy Davis, who was inspired to run for her legislative seat at the first Women’s March in 2017. Joining her will be Sun Valley Institute Executive Director Aimee Christensen and Blaine County Youth Council members.

Men and children are invited to take part, even though it’s being billed as a women’s march.

The non-partisan, inclusive, family-friendly walk will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Women’s Suffrage. The 19t Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which grated American women the right to vote, was ratified on Aug. 18, 1920, following a century of lobbying for the amendment.

Idaho was the fourth state in the nation to allow women the right to cast ballots.

A march is also being held at 9 a.m. Saturday in Boise where participants will gather in front of the Idaho State Capitol. Paulette Jordan, the former gubernatorial candidate who recently said she is considering a bid for Congress, will serve as master of ceremonies.

It is one of hundreds of marches being held across the country.

The 2017 Women’s March in Washington, D.C., was the largest single-day protest in U.S. history. It’s designed to dismantle systems of oppression through nonviolent resistance and building inclusive structures.
