A Solitary Walk Out Warm Springs

POEM AND PHOTO BY JEAN ENERSEN

An early morning walk out Warm Springs road

I feel the sun on my back
And wind in my hair.

I see the creek turn to white  as it races over rocks to meet the river,

I smell the strong scent of sage as its grey green leaves sprout everywhere

And at Penny Lake I smile: trout are jumping and there’s no one there to catch them. Fish win!

A quiet  spring  has settled over Sun Valley, and with it .....
hope for the health of all.

But wait: I see  a wary  coyote drinking  at the pond, a reminder perhaps we too, should be wary, or Sun Valley could  remain this  quiet .........
for a very long time.
