What do you do when your boyfriend dumps you because you’re not “serious” enough to help his hoped-for bid for Senate?
If you’re “Legally Blonde,” you follow Warner Huntington III to Harvard Law School to prove you can be serious. And you decide being blonde is the problem and head to the salon to become a brunette.
Find out whether Elle’s efforts to charm her way into Harvard Law pan out as hoped when the Sun Valley Community School presents “Legally Blonde: The Musical.”
The young thespians will present the musical Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 4-6, at the Sun Valley Community School Theater.

The play features 40 Upper School students on stage and behind the scenes bringing the award-winning musical production to life.
Elle is an ingenious young woman who appears to have it all—well, with the exception of the boyfriend she thought was going to propose to her. But she pretends to be something she’s not to pursue her goal, then realizes her true potential with the help of her new friends.
Heck, she even goes on to defend a fitness queen accused of murdering her husband
Junior Rose Bicas-Dolgen will portray Elle and Brady Giles, Warner. Charlie Coulter will take on the role of Emmet Forrest who mentors Elle, and senior Priya Merchant will take on the role of Elle’s friend Paulette.
Megan Mahoney, middle and elementary school music teacher, has choreographed the musical.
The kids have made some updates, revisions and cuts to bring the story into the 2020s and offer a more inclusive take, said Director Kevin Wade, a 2006 graduate of the school and the school’s Upper School Theater teacher.
“At first glance, ‘Legally Blonde’ might look a little like cotton candy, but it is full of great writing, infectious tunes, and layers of substance,” said Wade. “You'll laugh the whole time, but you'll probably also find yourself tearing up a bit. Oh, and there might be dogs!”
