Soldier Mountain Ski Area is hosting a Pray for Snow Party on Saturday, Dec. 4.
The event will start at 5 p.m. at the ski area, which is located 11 miles north of Fairfield on Soldier Creek Road.
Festivities will include a massive bonfire to which partygoers can make nonliving sacrifices, s’more making stations, free food courtesy of Falls Brand and live music by colt Angell and the Revolvers band. There also will be games with prizes and a cash bar.
In addition, the resort will begin a new tradition, lighting the giant “Soldier Tree” with Christmas lights.
Soldier Mountain will offer a one-day-only 10 percent discount on season passes at the party. Would-be passholders must attend the party to receive the discount.
Without the discount, season passes cost $449 for those between 18 and 69 years of age, $239 for youth 6 through 17, $360 for military adults, $180 for military youth and $169 for silver seniors 70 and older. Season passholders can purchase three Bring-a-Friend cards for $99, as well.
Children 5 and under get to ski and snowboard for free. Four-day punch passes cost $178, representing a 10 percent discount off four standard adult single-day lift tickets.
Established in 1947, Soldier Mountain has two chairlifts reaching an altitude of up to 7,177 feet and cat skiing that offers 3,000 vertical feet of skiing over 2,000 acres. Its restaurant serves homemade fare. Camping spots are available in the parking lot and along the road beyond and motel lodging and vacation rentals are available in Fairfield.

Soldier Mountain passholders can enjoy four days of skiing and boarding at Bogus Basin and three free days at Cooper Resort in Colorado, Bridger Bowl in Bozeman, Mont.; Lee Canyon in Nevada, Cherry Peak and Eagle Point ski resorts in Utah, and Sleeping Giant and White Pine ski areas in Wyoming.
Soldier Mountain passholders may also receive one complimentary lift ticket at Grand Targhee in Wyoming with a three-night minimum stay at the resort.
The resort is also part of the Ski Koalition, with passholders getting 40 percent discounts at Kelly Canyon, Magic Mountain and Pebble Creek in Idaho; Beaver Mountain in Utah and Pine Creek and Snow King in Wyoming.
