STORY AND PHOTO BY KAREN BOSSICK
“Wave.”
It’s not an invitation to wave at others as you walk or bike the Wood River Trail, although you’re certainly welcome to do that.
Rather, it’s the third in a series of StoryWalks that is going up on the bike path.
The StoryWalk will go up on Wednesday, May 11, just in time for Wednesday’s Bike to Work and School Day. It will be up through Tuesday, May 17.
This particular book by Suzy Lee has no words. Instead, it tells the story of a little girl’s day at the beach with simple illustrations in two shades of watercolor.
Those who take time to examine the pictures will follow along as the girl dances with the waves, chasing them as they recede, running from them as they surge, splashing in them when they’re calm and finally succumbing as the waves crash down on her.
The story will be posted page by page between Fox Acres Road and Myrtle Street in Hailey and between 6th Street and Wood River Drive in Ketchum.
The StoryWalk Project was created by Anne Freguson of Montpelier, Vt., and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library.
Locally it’s a collaboration between Blaine County Recreation District, the Hailey Public Library and The Community Library.
