It’s as simple as holding a door open.

The Senior Connection and St. Luke’s Center for Community Health are encouraging community members to “Hold a Door Open for a Senior” as part of a campaign to create an environment that is supportive to local seniors.

“When we treat one another with kindness and care, we teach others in the community how important our seniors are in the Wood River Valley,” said Teresa Beahen Lipman, director of The Senior Connection.

The drive was instigated by the Aging Friendly Committee, which is co-chaired by the Senor Connection and St. Luke’s Center for Community Health. It dovetails with National Senior Center Month and Courtesy Month.

Community partners that are part of the Aging Friendly Committee include BCRD, Bellevue Public Library, CSI, Hailey Public Library, Hospice and Palliative Care of the Wood River Valley, Interlink Volunteer Caregivers, Mountain Rides, NAMI, Safe Haven Healthcare, St. Luke’s Center for Community Health, Senior Connection, Souper Suppers, The Advocates, The Community Library, The Hunger Coalition and the Wood River YMCA.
