Salmon- born-and-raised Leo Arriwite will share the oral history tradition of the Northern Shoshoni people of Central Idaho, Northern Western Wyoming and Southwestern Montana at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, at The Community Library in Ketchum.
Arriwite will discuss the trails used by the Shoshoni, visiting tribes and immigrants and the subsistence hunting, fishing and gathering that the Northern Shoshoni did in the land surrounding Sun Valley.
He also will demonstrate the making of buckskin gloves.
Arriwite has a long career in law enforcement, starting in 1977 as a Tribal Law Enforcement Officer and later including Chief Tribal Prosecutor for the Shoshone-Bannock Tribal Court and 20-plus years as a Judge.
Joining him for the presentation will be Toni Timbana, his life partner, and their son Bailey Ariwite.
