BY KAREN BOSSICK

A member of the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame will describe how she went from a young ranch bride to a gritty cattle boss to a conservationist devoted to the unique desert landscape in which she lives Tuesday at The Community Library in Ketchum.

Heidi Redd, author of “A Cowgirl’s Conservation Journey,” will relate her adventures at the Dugout Ranch adjacent to the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park in Utah at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, at the Community Library.

The ranch is the largest private inholding in the Bears Ears National Monument. It was purchased by The Nature Conservancy in 1997, helping to foster the alliance between ranchers and conservationists.

A Research Center there is studying climate change and sustainable land use solutions for ranchers and other arid-land users.

Reserve your spot at https://thecommunitylibrary.libcal.com/event/16418917. The program will be livestreamed at https://vimeo.com/event/6031771 and available to watch later at the Library Archive.
