For 18 senior football players, Thursday night marked the last time they would play a football game at Phil Homer Stadium in Hailey. And these seniors went out in style, defeating the visiting Buhl Indians by a final score of 21-12 on a chilly October night.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Wolverines found the end zone twice in the second quarter, both on touchdown passes from Andrew Nelson to Hunter Stewart. The home team extended its lead to 21-0 in the third quarter when Nelson scampered 19 yards for a Wolverine touchdown.
Wood River survived a late push by Buhl, as a Fabian Leo interception helped seal the victory for the Wolverines.
Wood River (2-5, 1-2) will face Canyon Ridge next Friday in Twin Falls.
