Sun Valley Village will transform into a Winter Wonderland beginning this weekend.
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, DEC. 7 and 8
The Winter Wonderland will kick off with Shop for a Cause on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 7 and 8, in Sun Valley Village. Colla Voce, Wood River High School’s elite female singing group, will be strolling through the village providing holiday cheer to get shoppers in the mood.
And a percentage of the sales will go towards local nonprofits.
There’ll be cookie decorating for youngsters from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, in The Boiler Room. Giant cookies can be purchased for $12.50 and children will be given a massive variety of frostings, M&Ms and other sweet treats to decorate them with.
And guests will be able to view the gingerbread houses local individuals and teams have entered in the 3rd annual Gingerbread House Contest. Be sure and cast your vote for your favorite as the top three vote-getters will earn cash prizes for their nonprofits. The gingerbread houses will be on display throughout the holiday season.
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, DEC. 14 and 15
Guests will be able to stroll through a European-style Holiday Market next to the Sun Valley Inn Duck Pond on Saturday and Sunday Dec. 14-15. There’ll be artisan goods such as bug bowls, classic advents, blankets, jewelry, vintage woolens, holiday wreaths, treats, Idaho-inspired T-shirts and more Find your gift from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Colla Voce will be caroling from noon to 3 pm. On Saturday, Dec. 14.
Sun Valley Resort’s Tree Lighting Ceremony, complete with complimentary cookies and cocoa, will begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. Carolers will warm the night with holiday favorites beginning at 5:30 p.m.—as always, ending with “It Happened in Sun Valley.” And Santa is expected to make an appearance at 6 p.m. as Sun Valley Village lights up.
TUESDAY, DEC. 24
Plan on the Christmas Eve ice Show, Torchlight Parade and Fireworks on Tuesday, Dec. 24. The free ice show—a Sun Valley tradition dating back decades—will begin at 5:30 p.m., with complimentary cocoa and cookies. Bleachers will open up at 3 p.m.
TUESDAY, DEC. 31
The holiday season will be capped by New Year’s Eve Night Skiing at Dollar Mountain from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31. A DJ will be spinning groovy tunes, food will be available in Carol’s Dollar Mountain Lodge, and a fireworks display will cap the night at 9 p.m. sharp. Tickets will go on sale later.
