The layoffs of thousands of U.S. Forest Service workers by the Trump Administration, including some in the Sawtooth Recreation Area, have left outdoor recreationalists with questions galore.

Will there be hands on deck to remove deadfall from favorite trails? Will the work that was planned on new trail construction move forward?

Sara Gress, executive director of the Wood River Trails Coalition, will outline what to expect this summer—specifically on Wood River Valley trails—during a special Pub Talk tonight—Thursday, April 3. She will also discuss ways lovers of the land can support the trails of the Wood River Valley.

“We want to foster a sense of ownership and pride in the outdoor spaces that make the Wood River Valley so special,” said Gress.

Wood River Trail Coalition leaders huddled with representatives of the Forest Service on Wednesday to get a clear picture of what to expect. And they’ll pass that on to the public tonight.

The Pub Talk will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Sawtooth Brewery’s Public House in Ketchum.
