The Sun Valley Culinary Institute’s newest batch of students are holding a Student Sandwich Shop Pop-Up Restaurant Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11.
The seven students—four of whom come from the Wood River Valley and three of whom come from Indiana—are creating and executing the menu using bread sourced from Hillside Grain south of Bellevue
Sandwiches will be available at the Culinary Institute on Ketchum’s Main Street.
- On Thursday, Nov. 17, the Culinary Institute will hold a live virtual tasting with Fran’s Chocolate founder Fran Bigelow, considered one of the nation’s preeminent chocolatiers.
Bigelow opened her first shop Fran’s Patisserie and Chocolate Specialties in Seattle in 1982 following a truffle-tasting trip to Paris. Now, her addictive grey and smoked salt caramels are known across the country.
Those who join the virtual tasting will get a box of chocolates with a tasting kit.
