100 Men Who Care doled out another $17,563 to local non profits at their October meeting.
The men gave:
- $9,118 to the Blaine County Education Foundation. The money will be used for children enrolled in The School Meal Support Program, which was started after the federal waiver that covered the cost of school meals for schoolchildren was revoked. The program offsets the cost of discounted meals for those who can’t afford to cover the cost and it provides funding for students who don’t qualify for a free or reduced meal but show need.
- $5,468 to the Pulaski users Group (PUG). The donation will support one 5-day hitch to clear backcountry trails in the Idaho wilderness.
- $3,050 to Sun Valley Ballet Foundation. The Foundation wants to restart the Sun Valley Ballet School, which offered affordable instruction to more than 120 students before it was shuttered a few years ago.
The philanthropic group has given $384,488 to Wood River Valley causes since its inception in February 2013. It started with just 16 guys who were eager to pool $100 each four times a year to support the “engines” that make this community special, said organizer Marty Lyon.
The next quarterly gathering will be in February 2023.
