Tammy Davis started prepping a barnyard full of turkeys on Thanksgiving Eve , then returned at 6 to shove the two 30-pound turkeys and three 10-pound birds in the oven.
Her mission: Thanksgiving dinner for the community at St. Charles Catholic Church.
“I knew a couple survivors who needed a Thanksgiving meal so I decided to throw one for the whole community,” said Davis, the director of the Crisis Hotline, as she served up turkey and dressing, sweet potatoes and mashed potatoes. “I love the idea of community. I want to see them laugh and smile and be in the moment.”
Of course, community doesn’t just take place around the table.
Community happened Thursday between dog walkers as they met up with one another on a frosty boardwalk in Draper Preserve.
Community happened Thursday morning in Hailey as hundreds turned out for the annual Turkey Trot.
And it happened up in Sun Valley as thousands turned out for a remarkable Opening Day on Bald Mountains that saw skiers and boarder even shredding off-piste runs like Rock Garden and Exhibition.
Now, stay tune for more community--a community of pets and people--when Mountain Humane hosts a Holiday Open House from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26.
