The Upper Big Wood River Grange is offering a mid-winter cabin fever reliever tonight with its second Contra Dance of the season.
Caller David Quinley will lead dancers in long-ways sets and circle dances and Strings Attached string band will provide the music from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at the Grange, 609 South 3rd Avenue in Hailey.
Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for teens and free for children 12 and under accompanied by an adult. Donations over $20 made by check to the Grange Foundation will get a receipt for charity donation.
Dancers are asked to bring clean light-soled shoes for dancing as dirt or gravel on shoes can damage the dance floor.
Contra dances are a family-friendly activity for all ages. Don’t worry if you don’t know the steps as the caller will lead dancers through them, said Carol Cole.
The Hailey Grange is nearly a hundred years old, having been chartered in 1924. It hosts the Wood River Seed Library, provides space for dance classes and other community functions and fosters sustainable practices such as gardening, home cooking, sewing and other practical arts.
