Sally Gillespie, executive director of the Spur Foundation, will share considerations for thoughtful giving to non-profits at the Tuesday, April 11, meeting of 100 Men Who Care.
The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Community Library in Ketchum and is open to all. Those who are unable can attend by ZOOM. Organizer Marty Lyon will send out the Zoom invitation to regular participants on Monday. Others who would like to get the invitation may call Lyon at 208-788-7462 or email marty@100menwhocarewoodrivervalley.com.
Gillespie will discuss:
- The importance of the nonprofit sector to everyone’s experience of this community and its economy
- Common challenges for local nonprofits
- Considerations for giving effectively and impactfully
- How to gauge results.
Immediately following Gillespie’s presentation, the men will draw the names of three organizations that have been nominated for funding from a hat. Those making the nominations will make a pitch for their nominee as men consider which organization or organizations to fund.
Those involved with 100 Men Who Care meet four times a year for the sole purpose of writing $100 checks to local nonprofits. To date, the men have made $401,656 in donations.
At their last meeting the men donated $6,418 to The Space, which provides afterschool tutoring; $6,300 to I Have a Dream Foundation, which provides educational support to underserved students, and $3,100 to Mountain Humane.
