More than 200 women from throughout the state are expected to attend the P.E.O. State Convention being held in Sun Valley May 5-7.
They will be joined by international officers from outside Idaho.
The 107th Idaho State P.E.O. Convention will be convened by President Vera Redman at the Sun Valley Resort.
They will honor 34 fifty-year members. They have a tour of Ketchum and Sun Valley's Hemingway haunts planned for one afternoon, along with walks throughout the area and, perhaps, horseback riding. R. L. Rowsey, will provide entertainment at the Saturday evening banquet.
P.E.O. is a philanthropic organization where women celebrate the advancement of women, educate women through scholarships, grants, awards and loans and motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations. Since it was founded in 1869 as a small friendship society, P.E.O. has provided more than $398 million to more than a half-million women.
P.E.O. also owns and supports Cottey College, a private women’s college in Nevada, Mo., that was founded by Virginia Alice Stockard in 1884 and has as its slogan “Creators of incredible Futures.”
In addition to its educational philanthropies, the P.E.O. Sisterhood provides a framework of support and community for all members.
Besides President Redman of Twin Falls, Idaho P.E.O. officers include Vice President Therese Roemer of Twin Falls, Organizer Kimberly Hanigan of Fruitland, Treasurer Helen Watts of Nampa, Secretary Caroline Hall of Idaho Falls and Executive Treasurer Cynthia Tiegs of Nampa.
