Get fired up for the summer fly fishing season with the 17th annual Fly Fishing Film Tour presented by Costa, YETI and Simms.
The 2023 show will be screened at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at the Sun Valley Opera House. Tickets are $30, available at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/f3t-fly-fishing-film-tour-2023-tickets-559014205537?aff=ebdssbdestsearch. Five dollars from every ticket will be donated to Project Big Wood, a new nonprofit created to conserve the Big Wood River.
This year’s short films will take armchair fly fishers to Cuba, Patagonia, Mexico, Australia, Alaska, Wyoming, the Deep South and Massachusetts.
In addition, Trout Unlimited will have a fly-casting challenge for kids.
“The Belt Buckle” follows four friends on their pursuit of ultimate fly fishing glory. “The Holy Well” follows a group of friends who have weathered hurricanes and been marooned on an uninhabited island. This year they just want to have the one thing that’s eluded them: Good fishing.
“Cache of Gold” goes in search of Golden Trout via mule train 12,000 feet high in the Eastern Sierra Nevada. “Sabalo” showcases tarpon fishing in Cuba; “Bleed Water” pursues pike in New England in waters that were once unfishable due to industrial-age damage, and “After You’ve Gone” showcases a female fisher who is grappling with life after loss.
“Steve Red” showcases the shenanigans of fishing in the Louisiana bayou and “4 of a Kind” takes two friends to Oman in pursuit of the Africanus.
