Jean Enersen caught this photograph of an aura at Rotarun ski area just before the ski area closed for its long, long season on April 30.
She also penned this ode to Lake Creek near Hulen Meadows as the Nordic ski area was just about to begin its transition from winter to spring.
Ode to Lake Creek
rocky candy piled high into delicious mountains
polar bears napping to the sounds of the rippling river
bouquets abound:
birch trees and evergreens are decorated with snowy puff balls.
it’s hard to capture all this in a snap, a sentence or a season:
the stunning beauty and solitude of the place
but i will keep trying.
snapping,
and marveling,
until i catch my breath
from the beauty and the challenge
of the uphill climbs at Lake Creek
