We know we needed a clean sweep after this long, snowy winter.
More trash than ever before is littering roadways and pathways, not to mention enough sand and crumbled rock from potholes to fill Daytona Beach.
Thankfully, the trash bag cavalry is on its way.
The Environmental Resource Center will hold its 27th annual Clean Sweep from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 6.
Wood River Valley residents are invited to show up at one of three places at 9 a.m. to register and pick up bags. Complimentary breakfast snacks and hot drinks will be provided and costumes are encouraged.
Participants can identify an area they would like to clean and then celebrate their good deeds with a lunch gift certificate provided in the registration packet.
All participants will be entered into a raffle for prizes. And participants are encouraged to take pictures of their group and interesting items they find to win additional prizes. Email the pictures to info@ercsv.org and tag the event on social media accounts with @ERCSunValley.
Teams participating in the Trash Challenge will receive one point for each member of their team, one point for each member that’s dressed up and one point for each full bag of trash picked up.
Gathering points are:
ERC office, 471 Washington Ave. in Ketchum
Hop Porter Park in Hailey
Memorial Park in Bellevue
Want to help but can’t be there that morning? Make a donation at www.ercsv.org. People can also have their own Clean Sweep the week leading up to May 6. Just notify the ERC at 208-726-4333 or contact Trish Kerner at trish@ercsv.org.
