Members of the Liberty Theatre company are hitting the streets in a door-to-door campaign to promote their new Local’s Season Pass.

The Local’s “Pay What You Feel” season pass allows locals to pay any amount of money they wish for a pass that gains them access to all five of the company’s 2023/24 season shows, which this year will be held at The Mint in Hailey.

The idea is that no one be barred from the theater for inability to afford regular ticket prices. At the same time, purchasers are more than welcome to pay above and beyond just to support the theater.

It’s an innovative new approach to presenting plays in the valley, noted Chris Carwithen, director of marketing and audience engagement.

The Local’s Pass includes access to not just every play in the season but to discounted meals at The Mint on play nights and the ability to choose performance dates before tickets are on sale to the general public.

And it ensures that no one is left without an invitation to experience world-class theater, said TLTC Artistic Director Naomi McDougall Jones.

“We are so proud to be launching the next phase of The Liberty Theatre Company’s life with a season of incredible shows, populated by a combination of talented local artists and cutting-edge New York and LA theater makers,” she said. “With this season pass, we are throwing open our doors and encouraging everyone to come and fill up their hearts, minds, and souls with the incomparable joy and magic of live theatre.”

Season passes can be claimed for a price of your choosing during the month of June only at https://www.LibertyTheatreCompany.org.

The season kicks off July 6-23 with the comedy “Desdemona,” a comedy based on a Venetian beauty in “Othello.” The theater company will follow that up with the musical spectacular “Chicago,” which satirizes the corruption surrounding the criminal justice system, Oct. 12-29.

The theatre company will stage a community-fueled “24 Hour Play Festival” Nov. 5, followed by a live staged radio play about a ghost haunting “Hammond Castle” Dec. 15-17.

The season will conclude Feb. 15-March 3, 2024 with “Disgraced,” which won the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for its tale of an American-born Muslim-raised lawyer confronted with questions of religion and culture.

“For nearly 30 years the theatre scene in our town has helped define who we are--its artists and audiences are a small representation of the brilliant, thoughtful and kind people who make up our community,” said Carwithen. “As Hailey’s own professional theatre company, TLTC hopes to continue representing, growing, and caring for our community by leading with the philosophy that life-changing theatre should be accessible to everyone.”
