Learn how Wood River Valley resident Don Sammis navigated the challenges of recovering from a stroke in the next segment of the Miracle of the Mind Series.
Sammis will discuss “Surviving and Thriving After Stroke” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, in the conference room at the Wood River YMCA.
Sammis, a retired builder, built 3,000 residences and 10 industrial office parks over his career. He was awarded the Golden Nugget Award of Merit for his industry contributions in 1986.
He has also founded and supported many nonprofit organizations, including the Americans for the Reagan Agenda policy group and the U.S. Volleyball Olympic Training program, which achieved two gold medals and two world championships, and the Rancho Santa Fe Youth Club.
He also served on a Presidential Task Force on Private Sector Innovation at President Reagan’s request. And he has served as a board member of the Sun valley Community School.
He and his wife Fernanda have five children.
