You thought the cougars and other wildlife had taken a summer vacation from Sun Valley?
Think again. They apparently think it’s a pretty cool place to be in summer, along with hundreds of visitors.
Benjamin Frank was deep in study in the office of his home in Indian Creek about 6:30 Friday night when he looked up and saw a bobcat strolling by. Quick thinking, he managed to snap a photo but the bobcat’s presence did unnerve some in the neighborhood.
Bobcats don’t get the press attention that mountain lions and moose do around here. But they are a pretty cool cat.
They have black bars on their forelegs and a bobbed tail. They can reach a total length of about four feet. Give them a good hare any day and their tummy will be happy. They, in turn, are vulnerable to coyotes.
They’re territorial and mostly solitary, their habitat ranging from Canada to Mexico.
