A 9-foot Steinway grand piano will take its place among the tall green grasses off the Wood River bike path tonight and Wednesday.
Classical pianist Hunter Noack returns to perform “IN A LANDSCAPE: Classical Music in the Wild.”
The concert starts at 6 p.m. both nights on a piece of ground owned by the Idaho Foundation for Parks and Lands south of River Run Lodge. Ticketholders will be given wireless headphones that mitigate the challenges of performing in the wild, and this allows them to explore the landscape as they listen to the music, rather than simply staying put in their seats.
“We are so excited for Hunter Noack’s return of IN A LANDSCAPE to the Wood River Valley,” said Kristine Bretall, the programs director for Sun Valley Museum of Art. “Last year he performed in the Simons Bauer Preserve in Hailey, and it was unforgettable. There is truly something magical about being able to deeply immerse yourself in the music with headphones while outdoors – and to share the experience with other audience members. In our busy lives, this event really asks us to stop and listen undistracted to gorgeous piano music played on a 9’ Steinway.”
IN A LANDSCAPE was inspired by the Work Progress Administration’s Federal Music and Federal Theater Project, which presented thousands of free concerts in public lands during the Great Depression of the 1930s. The arts were considered as important to the health of society as roads and post offices.
