Sun Valley resident Rae DeVito took this photograph of the Sun Valley Pavilion the night that storm clouds added their thunder to the music of the orchestra performing inside.
“I got drenched in the process but it was worth it,” she said.
The Sun Valley Music Festival announced this week that the Pops Concert on Saturday, Aug. 12, set a record with more than 11,131 people in attendance on the lawn and inside the Pavilion. The evening featured guest conductor Stephane Deneve and the Festival Orchestra performing John Williams’ compositions from “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” “Star Wars,” Schindler’s List,” “E.T. the Terrestrial” and other movies.
Attendance for the entire festival was up about 7 percent from last year, according to festival spokesperson Daniel Hansen. And the festival met its financial goals with its Gala concert.
