Seal coating will begin on the Wood River Trail bike path on Monday.
The seal coating will take place from the north end of Gannett Road in Bellevue to the south side of Fox Acres Road in Hailey. It is expected to last though Friday, Sept. 15. Portions of the path are expected to be closed during the maintenance work.
Trail users are asked to stay off the newly sealed surface for 48 hours after the application to allow for proper drying. Users who have disregarded that admonition have damaged the path. And the asphalt emulsion that’s applied to the trail can also damage shoes, clothes, bikes and rollerblades before it is dry.
Regular seal coating is done to preserve the trail’s smooth surface. Worn asphalt surfaces roughen and crack due to weather and years of regular use
