The Trailing of the Sheep Festival has again been selected as one of the Top 10 Best Fall Festivals by USA Today.
The festival was honored in the 2023 USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.
The festival was initially selected as one of 20 Best Fall Festival nominees by a panel of travel experts and USA Today editors. It got enough votes from readers to come in fifth on the list of award winners.
“We are thrilled that the Trailing of the Sheep Festival has secured yet another prestigious award, and we are excited to showcase our 27th annual event in just two weeks,” said Laura Musbach Drake, Trailing of the Sheep Festival’s executive director.
The festival getting the most votes this year was the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival in Evansville, Ind. It attracts more than 200,000 spectators each year to sample food from more than 130 food booths, enjoy a fall parade and ride carnival rides.
The Damariscotta Pumpkinfest and Regatta in Maine features landscapes painted on pumpkins. The Warrens Cranberry Festival in Wisconsin features more than 1,300 booths and a cranberry chiffon pie eating contest.
And the Ocean City Fall Block Party in New Jersey, which came in fourth, features evening fireworks and, of course, booths.
