STORY AND PHOTOS BY KAREN BOSSICK

“The Wizard of Oz,” which is taking the stage tonight through Sunday, Sept. 24, features 54 adults and children—all in amazing colorful costumes, thanks to a plethora of nifty sewers who pitched in.

Make that 55 actors, if you count the adorable Toto who put in a very evenly-keeled performance despite the glaring scowl of Almira Gulch who claims he bit her leg.

The production uses screen projections to set the stage for the tornado, the Emerald City and other scenes. It also features some nice props, right down to the hot dog Michael Cohen as Professor Marvel is roasting on the fire.

Annabelle Lewis plays Dorothy; Andrew Schiers, the Tin Man; Ida Belle Gorby, Scarecrow and Ward Loving, the Cowardly Lion.

Karen Nelsen plays Almira Gulch and the Wicked Witch; Aly Wepplo, Aunt Em; David Janeski, Uncle Henry and Caitlyn Mills, Glinda the Good Witch.

Michael Cohen plays The Wizard; Jonah Kendall, the Emerald City guard; Evan Dittami, the commander of winged monkeys, and Qwydion Schiers, general of the Winkies.

The Munchkins are comprised of Lili Archibald, Maude Bates, Kaitlyn Cooper, Sophia Fosburg, Tal Hemmings, Madeleine Hotard, Beau Kendall, Mykala McCann, Catherine McCoy, Riley Meyer, Georgia Payne, Asher Pettit, Violet Resko, Serene Sheue, Niko Smith, Simone Spachman, Satchel Swindley, Morgan Thomas, Lillian Tillotson and Leonie Wilson.

The Flying Monkeys are Clive Bates, Jack Cohen and Ben Kashen. The Ozians are Samantha Archibald, Heather Black, Kenya Cramer, Kira Faller, Claudia Mihm, Traci Morales, Sara Pettit, Aila Pettit, Kristal Schiers, Dana Thomas and Suzi Zook.
