It’ll cost you less to adopt a pet at Mountain Humane from Oct. 1-15.
BISSELL Pet Foundation is sponsoring reduced adoption fees at 345 shelters in 42 states, including Sun Valley’s Mountain Humane, during the first half of Oct. Adopters can save a life of a spayed, neutered, vaccinated pet for $50 or less. In the case of Mountain Humane, all adult pets will be available for fee-waived adoptions and kittens will be half-price and two for one.
The “Empty the Shelters” event is designed to assist animal shelters, many of which are in crisis due to increased owner surrenders and stray intakes. Animal intakes are expected to reach a three-year high this year, and the glut of animals has spike post-pandemic euthanasia rates across the country.
Empty the Shelters has helped nearly 190,000 pets find homes, making it the largest funded adoption event in the country. An average of 1,225 pets are adopted each day of the event.
An assortment of animals, including dogs, cats and bunnies, are currently available at Mountain Humane. They include darling kitties named Simba, Mufasa and Jorge; a Labrador retriever named Midnight, and a black and white mixed breed named Sprocket who gets the zoomies.
