Rajiv Joseph was named a Pulitzer Prize finalist for Drama for his play “Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo,” about a tiger that haunts the streets of Baghdad seeking the meaning of life.
He won an Obie Award for Best New American Play for his play “Describe the Night,” which explores truth as lie and lie as a truth in the story of a Jewish writer’s journal found in the wreckage of a suspicious plane crash 90 years later.
Now the Cleveland, Ohio, native is in Ketchum crafting a new play as the third playwright given a residency by the Sun Valley Playwright’s Residency. And he will introduce himself to the community Monday night as he fields questions and answers at 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, at The Community Library.
Seats to see the presentation in person may be reserved at https://thecommunitylibrary.libcal.com/event/10988576. The presentation will also be livestreamed and available to watch later at https://vimeo.com/event/3742549.
While Joseph is here, the Sun Valley Playwright’s Residency will also produce a free reading of Joseph’s play, “Gruesome Playground Injuries” at 7 p.m. Oct. 14, at The Argyros Theatre for the Performing Arts in Ketchum. The play follows the story of two people’s friendship over 30 years.
