Learn how to transition from hiking and biking to cross country skiing when the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation and The Elephant’s Perch host the last in this summer’s SVSEF Speaker Series on Tuesday.
- Chris Mallory, the Cross Country Gold Team Head Coach, will discuss fall fitness at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, at The Elephant’s Perch.
He will share tips for how to train for cross country ski racing, reveal how the Gold Team’s world-class skiers prepare for big events and offer his thoughts for how Masters athletes should prepare for local races and the World Masters being held in 2024 in Finland.
The talk will be held inside The Perch.
But, wait—there’s more!
- Peter Wolter, the 2023 Boulder Mountain Tour champion, will offer a free Hill Bounding workshop at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, on Dollar Mountain.
Participants should bring classic ski poles and wear trail running shoes for a “Spenst” training style workout. “Spenst” is Norge talk for explosiveness.
Dave Knoop says that bounding is the perfect exercise to transform a person “from a one-speed wonder to a younger bouncier more dynamic you.”
Wolter, who considers himself a power hiker type of running race guy, won the 2023 Baldy Hill Climb in September. He attributed his win to his uphill bounding.
