Some 800 people and dozens of pups enjoyed Hailey’s 20th annual Turkey Trot amidst temperatures in the lower 30s on Thanksgiving morn.
Trotters--nearly a third of whom were visitors--got a treat at an aid station in Della View, which offered champagne, pumpkin pie and free puppies.
Hailey got a dusting of snow while Bellevue got 4. Bald Mountain and Galena Lodge picked up about 1.
Hangar Bread in Hailey was overwhelmed with orders for Thanksgiving orders the day before. Orders were packed high to the ceiling Wednesday morning as people came to pick them up. The bakery made about 2,000 dinner rolls, said Roman Chavez, along with dozens more Kaiser and other rolls.
Other popular items included the cinnamon rolls and Iguana twists—cinnamon rolls in twist form that Chavez says he named after the iguanas he frequently spotted as a youngster growing up in Mexico.
Meanwhile, Factor got the stoke for this season’s ski and snowboard season going Wednesday night at The Argyros with its “Abstract” movie featuring the artistry of freeskiing.
And just for good measure, the filmmakers bought a round of drinks for those in the audience. Not a bad way to start Thanksgiving weekend!
