The acclaimed documentary “Food and Country” will hit the screen at The Argyros at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30. The showing is part of the Sun Valley Film Festival’s new monthly movie series.
New York Times Food critic and Gourmet Magazine editor writer Ruth Reichl reaches across political and social divides to examine the country’s broken food system and the innovators risking everything to transform it.
She talks to ranchers in Kansas and Georgia; farmers in Nebraska, Ohio and the Bronx; a New England fisherman and maverick chefs on both coasts. And she shares snippets of her own personal journey when it comes to food.
“How we grow and make our food shows us our values—as a national and as human beings,” she says.
Directed and produced by Laura Gabbert, who directed “City of Gold” about Pulitzer Prize-winning food writer Jonathan Gold, The film premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival.
Joining in the discussion will be representatives of Hailey’s Sage School, who focus each year on the country’s food system.
Tickets for the 100-minute film are are $20, available at https://svff.eventive.org/schedule/65427a6bb10b3100266f592b/tickets.
