Amy Tara Koch will offer a free writing workshop at The Community Library at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12.
Koch will discuss how writers can morph an idea into a newsworthy and publishable feature as she discusses “What Makes a Good Story?” She will share her own experiences and guide participants in writing headlines and pitches.
Pre-registration is recommended for the two-hour workshop at www.comlib.org.
Koch visited the valley in 2022 for The New York Times story, “You Don’t Go to Sun Valley to Party.”She was back skiing on Sun Valley's Bald Mountain on Thursday.
She regularly reports on travel, food and lifestyle for The Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Architectural Digest and Conde Nast Traveler and has written one book: “Bump It Up: Transform Your Pregnancy into the Ultimate Style Statement.
She teaches a journalism course at the University of Michigan.
Koch is the writer-in-residence this month at the Ernest and Mary Hemingway House in Ketchum, which is owned and managed by The Community Library.
“We’re thrilled to bring Amy back to the valley,” says Martha Williams, the library’s director of programs and education. “Her story was one of the best travel pieces I’ve read about this area. She spoke to so many people while here and really got a feel for our community and its history. We enjoyed meeting her so much that we asked her to come back!”
