Donner and Blitzen are in interval training for their Christmas Eve trip around the world.
But they will take a break long enough to stop in at Chapter One Bookstore on Wednesday, Dec. 20.
The two live reindeer will be at the store from 1 to 3 p.m. that day as the Ketchum bookstore at 340 E. 2nd St. holds a day-long open house. The open house will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The reindeer will be available for petting and for photos, offering a touch of the North Pole and an unforgettable experience for individuals of all ages.
What’s more, they will collect Christmas wishes to deliver directly to Santa Claus.
Complimentary hot chocolate and holiday treats will be available as the bookstore offers children and adults the opportunity to immerse themselves in the joy and wonder of the holiday season. The event is being held in partnership with Sun Valley Wellness, Alpine Collective and the Quinn Family Foundation
"We believe in uniting the community to celebrate the joy and magic of the holiday season,” said Holly Mora, the owner of Chapter One Bookstore. “Chapter One Bookstore is more than a place for books; it is a cornerstone of our community, where people come together to connect with stories, knowledge, and each other.”
The bookstore has a variety of children’s books that are perfect for the holidays, including “There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow,” “Cross Country Cat” and Winter’s Tale.” Also, “The Last Kids on Earth,” “The Wild Robot Protects,” “The Nanny,” and “All I Want for Christmas.”
The store’s Kelly Cavanaugh says adult books that some might find enticing include Jana Blankenship’s “Wild Beauty: Wisdom & Recipes for Natural Self-Care,” “Apotheke: Modern Medicinal Cocktails,” Penny Watson’s “Wilderness: The Most Sensational Natural Places on Earth,” Annie Fenn’s “The Brain Health Kitchen: Preventing Alzheimer’s Through Food” and Kate O’Donnell’s “The Everyday Ayurveda Guide to Self-Care.”
