“Learn to Knit” a free, 4-part class taught by master knitter and Sun Valley Needle Arts owner Patricia Lirk is back!
Classes will focus on the basics. They will be held froom 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning Feb. 6, at the Hailey Public Library located at 7 West Croy.
Students will provide their own yarn and needles. The class is free but space is limited; participants should email kristin.fletcher@haileypubliclibrary.org to reserve a spot.
“Knitting is such a relaxing and useful activity!” said Kristin Fletcher, the library’s programs and engagement manager. “We’ve been delighted by how many folks, young and old, want to learn this beautiful and traditional skill. Patricia is a wonderfully patient teacher and everyone has such great fun! She’ll teach how to knit, purl, increase and decrease, cast-on and bind-off, and how to add on more yarn. Everyone will conclude with a personal project.”
Lirk first learned to knit through a store she worked at 30 years ago and has been hooked ever since. She opened her Ketchum store in 2010 and shares her talents teaching classes for the general public, girl scout troops and attendees at local conferences.
