Spend two hours fly-fishing from your armchair when Trout Unlimited Hemingway Chapter presents the 2024 International Fly Fishing Film Festival.
The festival will be held Friday, Feb. 9, at The Argyros in Ketchum. Doors open at 5:30 for attendees to bid on raffle prizes and mingle. Films will start at 6:45 p.m.
This year’s films take viewers to an undisturbed beach in South Caicos’ bonefish country, into the heart of the Amazon jungle in search of the legendary Peacock bass, to Iceland in search of monster sea-run brown trout and to the isolated region of Nunavik in search of trophy Brook trout, Arctic Char and Atlantic Salmon.
Other films take viewers to a holler in Appalachia, the Brazilian Amazon where Kayapo warriors are safeguarding their river and the northern region of Argentina where the aggressive Golden Dorado is known for its size, signature jumps and pure fighting power.
"We will be raffling off some Youth Fly Rod kits to help kids get started with fly fishing," said TU member Ed Northen. " Tickets will be $1 per youth and youths are only able to purchase one ticket. This creates an equal opportunity for all the kids to win. There will be a variety of interesting silent raffle items including, custom tied flies from local flyfishers, fishing gear and clothing. It should be a fun event, full of energy and fun, providing a fishing fix for those who are waiting for warmer weather to fish, and perhaps some inspiration to just get out and fish."
Tickets for adults are $25 with the money going to the chapter’s youth events and education. Tickets for youth 18 and under are $5. Tickets are available at https://ci.ovationtix.com/35937/performance/11398197
