Mountain resort towns are often described as paradise. Yet there’s sometimes a dark undercurrent of mental health crises that mar that reality.
Olympic skier Bode Miller and Emmy Award-winning sports filmmaker Brett Rapkin have teamed up to make the film “Paradise Paradox,” which addresses that issue while offering a look at innovative solutions some communities have come up with.
Sun Valley Resort is offering a free screening at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, at the Sun Valley Opera House.
The film, for instance, shows how Eagle County in Colorado has reduced hospital and jail transports by establishing a mobile response system to help in mental crises, how it’s created new initiatives improving social connections and how it’s worked with Vail Health to design a behavioral health facility with 24-hour walk-in urgent care.
