Roll into spring and summer on Wednesday when the Blaine County Recreation District presents Bike to School and Work Day.
The free community event will be held from 6:30 to 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, along the WOOD River Trail, aka bike path.
More than two dozen local sponsors have promised to provide snacks, bike checks and swag to participants.
This celebration promotes bicycles as both a mode of transportation and a form of recreation as it encourages adults and youth to commute to school, work, the grocery store and elsewhere in a healthy and active way that is good for the environment.
Sponsors will be stationed as far north as the Wood River YMCA where representatives of the Y and Big Wood School will be and as far south as Woodside Boulevard where Higher Ground and Power Engineers will be.
Other participants include The Elephant’s Perch, Sun Valley Resort, Environmental Resource Enter, Wild Rye, City of Ketchum Recreation Department, St. Thomas Episcopal Church and PK’s Bike Shop.
Also, St. Luke’s Wood River, Sawtooth Botanical Garden, Pioneer Montessori School, Backwoods Mountain Sports, the Limelight Hotel, Sturtevants, Wood River Land Trust, Zenergy, Girls on the Run, Cox, Hailey Public Library, The Sage School, BCRD, Rocky Mountain Hardware, Blaine County Education Foundation and Kiwanis.
