The American Legion is hosting a meet and greet Friday night for two chefs from the USS Idaho, a newly commissioned submarine.
The American Legion is inviting the public to meet the young men at 5 p.m. Friday, May 17, at the Legion Hall at 220 Cottonwood Street in Ketchum Refreshments will be served.
American Legion members are hosting the two chefs for two weeks while they take classes at the Sun Valley Culinary Institute to learn about Idaho cooking. They will take back what they’ve learned for the benefit of the crew.
“I don’t know the menu of what they will learn but, perhaps, a Famous Idaho Potato Stew, or Lamb a la Idaho,” quipped American Legion member Ed Simon.
The USS Idaho, the Navy’s most advanced nuclear powered fast attack submarine. It was christened in Groton, Conn., in mid-March 2024.
