The Silver Creek Preserve near Picabo is gearing up for its Opening Day Celebration from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today—Saturday, May 25.
The event outside the Visitor Center will celebrate the opening day of the 2024 summer fishing season with free hamburgers and hot dogs.
The Idaho Native Plant Society will offer a wildflower walk. And they will set up some interesting plant structure specimens under microscopes for adults and kids alike to look at.
The preserve, a project of The Nature Conservancy, encompasses 881 acres around a high-desert spring creek that serves as home to trout, eagles, trumpeter swans, moose and more. It attracts fishermen from around the world.
