Celebrate National Trails Day by giving back.
The community is invited to help spruce up the new Silver Lining Trail in the Hailey foothills on June 1—National Trails Day.
The City of Hailey already contracted the Wood River Trails Coalition to do maintenance work on the Toe of the Hill Trail, which traverses the bottom of the foothills in Hailey from Quigley Canyon to the south. Now, it wants to get community members to pitch in to smooth out the new Silver Lining Trail in partnership with the Wood River Trails Coalition and the Bureau of Land Management.
Volunteers should meet at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 1, at Keefer Park in the Woodside neighborhood of Hailey. Volunteers will rake rocks and smooth out the Silver Lining Trail, which was installed last fall, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Volunteers will be rewarded with a celebratory lunch when the work is done.
Volunteers should wear long pants and closed toe shoes. The Wood River Trails Coalition will provide gloves, hard hats and tools. They’re requesting that dogs stay home, checking their enthusiasm for when the trail work is done and they can go give it their sniff of approval.
