A free digital literacy program for older adults will kick off on Monday, June 3 at the Bellevue Public Library.
“Launching the Future: Empowering Seniors through Digital Literacy” is designed to empower Bellevue’s older adults by teaching them computer skills in a friendly, hands-on environment.
The program is being offered by Bellevue Library in collaboration with Cox Communications, the Idaho Commissions for Libraries and local and statewide digital partners.
The workshops use research-based strategies and materials to help seniors become more confident about engaging with family and friends and gaining access to telehealth, banking and online shopping.
Monday’s session will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m.:
Day 1: Overcoming Digital Fears
Day 2: Mastering Communication Tools
Day 3: Ensuring Online Safety
Day 4: Accessing Essential Services
Day 5: Building Digital Confidence
Cox Communications is providing 12 Chromebooks, with four being awarded to participants who complete all five sessions. Participants will also receive resource kits and have access to ongoing support.
For information, contact Kristin Gearhart, executive director of the Bellevue Library at 208-788-4503 or kgearhart@bellevueidaho.us.
The Bellevue Library, a haven for youngsters, will become a beehive of activity for adults during the digital literacy workshops.
