With conference passes selling out in less than 15 minutes, the Sun Valley Writers’ Conference has decided to offer a Live Watch Party at the Argyros Performing Arts Center.
The conference, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary July 20-22, set all kinds of records this year—all Conference passes sold out in less than 15 minutes, single event tickets for pavilion Talks sold out within 10 minutes and seats for free Community Speaker Series talks featuring Judy Blume and John Vaillant filled up within hours.
In response, members of the Writers’ Conference decided to livestream content from the 2024 conference to the screens at The Argyros, including several talks that are not available via livestreaming, lawn talks or single event talks. Books will be available for purchase on site, along with SVWC gift items, special guest appearances, drinks and music.
James Tooley, the SVWC’s creative director, said that the demand and enthusiasm for the upcoming conference has been unprecedented.
“This year we are really excited to add the Live Watch Party at The Argyros as a way for people to come together to engage with our content and with each other,” he said. “We have such a fantastic lineup of presenters this year and we can’t wait to share it with more of our community.”
It costs $30 for a three-day Watch Party pass, available at https://svwc.com/watchparty. If the event hasn’t sold out, there will be same-day single-day passes available at the door for $10.
The Sun Valley Writers’ Conference also will offer free livestreaming of Pavilion talks, as well as free lawn seating at the Sun Valley Pavilion during those Pavilion talks. Free online content will also be available in the digital media library.
The Writers’ Conference also will hold a Student/Author luncheon during the conference, in addition to the School Speaker Series event it staged with Javier Zamora in May.
