Did you think we couldn’t possibly have any more road construction this summer in the Wood River Valley? Think again.
Blaine County Road and Bridge will begin a major road construction project on Buttercup Road beginning in early August. The construction will extend from East Myrtle Street to Valley Club Drive.
Construction is expected to last between eight and 10 weeks with traffic along Buttercup Road limited to residential access. No through traffic will be allowed. Drivers should anticipate delays and are urged to use extreme caution in the presence of flaggers and heavy construction.
The project will involve removing and replacing the existing road surface, slope work to stabilize the roadway and improved drainage systems. Approaches and intersections will be reworked and there will be enhancements to increase safety and traffic flow efficiency.
The cost of the project is about $2.4 million with $2 million in funding coming from the Strategic initiatives Grant Program (FY2024 Local Transportation Project Grant Program). The remaining $400,000 comes from the county’s Road and Bridge Fund.
“Blaine County is committed to improving the safety and efficiency of our local transportation network,” said Muffy Davis, Chair of the Blaine County Commissioners. “This project is a significant investment in our infrastructure, and we appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation during the construction period.”
